Wedge-Tailed Eagle Juvenile in Nest Dandenong Ranges Australia
I don't think this little Wedge-Tailed Eagal was very impressed with me intruding on his territory as you can see in the video. If you look closely you will see the sibling sitting low in the nest. I'm happy to report that both young birds have survived and are currently enrolled in mum and dad flying school.
The footage was taken approx 28 October 2019 while the parents were circling high above. I was hoping to capture their return to the nest but ran out of patience and light. Maybe next year ! Its a great privilege to share our home with these magnificent creatures.

We didn't quite know what to expect when we were approached to cover the days performance, conduct a few Voxpop interviews and produce a short film about the event.. What emerged was a vibrant display of Victorian and S.A tribes showing their skills. Participation of their youth was a real high light and the da...

Although no relation, (we share the same surname) I visited the site of the siege and capture during the early 1970's. It looks pretty well the same in the video as it did back then and I still recall the lump I felt in my throat as I tried to visualise what had happened during those fateful days all those years earlier.

They were thieves no matter how much spin people put on it. A horse back then was the most expensive asset families owned. And same as robbing money from a bank. Their was no insurance. Robbing a bank was stealing from hard honest people in the area. Ned Kelly had the skills to make a honest living and he chose not to.

And now in a new century we see the politising of Victorian police through the pandemic, two teir policing against those that dont follow the paolitical narrative, and those politicians living as fat cats, high on the hog, not listening to the public and doing as they wish, much like the early wealthy settlers....... if nothing changes, nothing changes... such is life!

Const.Lonigan chased after Ned Kelly when Ned Kelly was a youth fleeing him. Ned Kellys Trousers came off and Const. Lonigan dragged Ned Kelly by his "private Parts" across the road , which nearly killed him. This would also give Ned Kelly a hatred of Const. Lonigan, who was in the group of Police chasing down Ned Kelly later on in his life , where Ned Kelly called out for the Police x 3 to "Bail Up' (throw down their guns). One policeman did that, the other escaped on horseback, but Lonigan ran for a tree and drew his revolver. Lonigan was shot in that incident and died. Ned Kelly famously said It was him or me. What a pity the bastard had to run. ". This account taken from the book by Keith Dunstan Published 1980.

Mic Jagger produced a movie about Ned Kelly in the 70's. This how many of us here in America ever learned of this man. Remarkable. Armored suits, stand up shoot out with the police, and trying to establish a republic. No small Man this One.

I'am from Benalla Kelly Country. My great great grand mother knew Harry Power he would call in to the family family farm at Myrrhee, from time to time A friend of mine who lives on her family farm at Lurg spoke of her Grand Father who had said that he had met Ned and some of his brother, they would visit a number of local farms buying supplies for their mother, that she would use in her business, the road that the Kelly's lived on was in their day the main road from Melbourne to Sydney. I did some work on a house located at what use to be called Winton Swamp. I think most of the stories regarding the Kelly's are most likely reasonably accurate. The story also extended into other familys in the district who were also part of the Kelly story.

Any verdict on Ned Kelly is a matter of opinion, and that, is something which defined much of why he lived the life he did, and the person he became...

While I understand he had a hard life, and the Irish suffering under English rule, it is no excuse for murder. Deifying outlaws only leads to more blood shed, even now. Just like so many others who suffered in poverty, like Bonnie and Clyde, Billy the kid and on and on, choosing to rob and murder always leads to more bloodshed. Ned brought about great suffering for his own family and friends, as well as the innocents that were killed, and the police officers families. Ned was right about one thing, there will be another court, and only God can judge a thing like this. I respect a man who stands for a cause, and perhaps our good Lord does too.
